What to Know about VOCAL'?

We’ve collected our answers to the most common questions about us and our services.

VOCAL is a not for profit organisation who work towards maintaining the health and welfare of the local street cats.

VOCAL is located on the Kritsa road out of Agios Nikolaos, a few doors down from the British Food Shop and about 350m before Lidl. The postal address is ……

VOCAL is staffed entirely by volunteers and works in partnership with a charitable veterinary organisation …..                …. who attend our premises regularly to undertake veterinary work.

We trap and neuter local street cats and whilst they are with us in our clinic we check their health including teeth, ears and treat any wounds they may have sustained. Once they have been treated and have recovered from the anaesthetic, we release them back into the same area we trapped them.

That varies, but throughout the year we usually run one or two clinics a month which can from from one to three days in duration.

Yes, occasionally we do rehome a cat rather than releasing it back onto the streets. Cats and kittens are assessed on an individual basis and for some cats with particular needs, releasing them again is not the best option for their health and wellbeing.

VOCAL runs entirely on charitable donations. Occasionally we successfully apply for various grants. We do not receive income or any regular payments from the Greek authorities.

VOCAL is recognised by the Greek authorities as a syllogos. It is properly registered as such with the Greek Tax Office and uses a registered accountant to submit its tax returns each year. Where tax is due, we do pay it.
